Privacy Policy
Overview
Liken Technologies Ltd. ("Liken", "we", "us") operates the Liken identity rights registry. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over your information.
Liken is an identity rights standard — not a social network. We collect the minimum data required to verify your identity and maintain your canonical record.
What we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password. If you connect social accounts (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), we store your account identifiers and public profile information.
Biometric data
With your explicit consent, we collect facial images and generate mathematical representations (embeddings) of your likeness. These embeddings are numerical vectors — they cannot be used to reconstruct your face. We use them solely to verify your identity and detect duplicate registrations.
Your facial images are stored in encrypted cloud storage. Your embeddings are stored in a vector database. Both are associated with your account and deleted when you delete your record.
Consent preferences
We store your likeness usage permissions — the rules you set for how your identity may be used by AI systems. These preferences form part of your public record.
Usage data
We collect standard server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited) to maintain and improve the registry. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.
How we use your data
- To create and maintain your identity record
- To verify your identity through biometric comparison
- To detect and prevent duplicate or fraudulent registrations
- To publish your public record (name, consent preferences, verification status)
- To send transactional emails about your account
- To respond to likeness check queries from authorised systems
Biometric data rights
We comply with biometric privacy laws including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- We obtain your informed, written consent before collecting biometric data
- We explain what biometric data we collect and why before collection begins
- We do not sell, lease, or trade your biometric data
- We delete your biometric data when you delete your account or upon request
- We store biometric data using industry-standard encryption
Data storage and security
Your data is stored across the following services, each chosen for their security standards and compliance certifications:
- Account data: Supabase (PostgreSQL, SOC 2 Type II)
- Facial images: Cloudflare R2 (encrypted at rest)
- Facial embeddings: Pinecone (SOC 2 Type II)
- Email delivery: Resend
All data transfers use TLS encryption. We restrict internal access to your data on a need-to-know basis.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access all data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for biometric processing at any time
- Object to processing of your personal data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@getliken.com.
Third-party services
When you connect a social account (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), we access public profile information through their APIs. We do not post to your accounts or access private content. Refer to each platform's privacy policy for details on their data practices.
Children
Liken is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the registry. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
