Terms of Service
Agreement
By registering with or using the Liken identity rights registry ("the Registry"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Registry. Liken Technologies Ltd. ("Liken", "we", "us") operates the Registry.
The Registry
Liken provides a canonical record for your likeness — a machine-readable declaration of your identity and the terms under which it may be used by AI systems. The Registry is an identity rights standard, not a content platform.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must provide accurate identity information
- You may only register your own likeness — registering another person's identity is prohibited
- One registration per person
Your record
When you register, you create a canonical identity record. This record includes your name, verification status, likeness permissions, and associated presence (connected accounts and verified domains). Parts of your record are publicly visible by design — this is how the standard works.
You control your record. You can update your likeness permissions, connect or disconnect accounts, and change your public URL at any time through your dashboard.
Biometric verification
Identity verification requires biometric data (facial images and derived embeddings). You must provide explicit consent before we collect this data. Our biometric data practices are detailed in our Privacy Policy.
We use biometric data to verify that you are who you claim to be and to prevent duplicate registrations. We may block registration if our systems detect that the same likeness has been registered by another account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Register a likeness that is not your own
- Provide false or misleading identity information
- Attempt to circumvent duplicate registration detection
- Use the Registry to harass, impersonate, or defraud others
- Interfere with the operation of the Registry
- Access or attempt to access another user's account
- Use automated systems to scrape or extract data from the Registry
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.
Likeness permissions
The Registry allows you to declare permissions for how your likeness may be used by AI systems. These permissions are a signal — a declaration of your intent. Liken does not enforce these permissions on third parties. We provide the infrastructure for consent to be expressed and read; enforcement depends on adoption by AI systems and platforms.
Intellectual property
You retain all rights to your likeness and identity. By using the Registry, you grant Liken a limited licence to store and process your data as described in our Privacy Policy, and to display your public record as part of the Registry.
The Liken name, logo, Signal Dot, and Registry are the intellectual property of Liken Technologies Ltd.
Account deletion
You may delete your account at any time. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your identity record, biometric data, facial images, and associated embeddings. Some anonymised usage data may be retained for analytics.
Availability
We aim to keep the Registry available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend the Registry for maintenance, updates, or security reasons. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Liken is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Registry. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Registry. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
